Historical landmark

April 1, 1994, has a special meaning. The date marks the first day of the Sixth Five Year Development Plan, and also the first day of the Second Long-Term Development Plan for the next 25 years.

What has the 1945 generation bequeathed to the succeeding generation?

Metaphorically speaking, the '45 Generation inherited an Indonesian house from its predecessor, the shell of a building that had yet to be improved, strengthened and enriched. In the last 25 years much has been done and much has been achieved, but much still has to be sorted out in the next long-term development plan.

One of the most urgent things to be done is to raise the standard of living of over 20 million people who are still living under the poverty line.
