Budihardjo Iduansjah, chairman of the Indonesian Retailers and Shoppers Association (Hippindo), said many imported goods were delayed entering malls to supply sales up to Lebaran. This situation stood in contrast to local goods, which do not face stock problems.

‘Perhaps Lebaran this year our sales will be somewhat disrupted,’ he said at a press conference in Senayan City, Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The complaints were conveyed by Budihardjo directly to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Trade Minister Budi Santoso during the opening of Belanja di Indonesia Aja, or BINA Lebaran 2026, at The FoodHall, Senayan City. However, Budihardjo did not detail which imported goods were said to be delayed.

He only hopes that the government-hosted Belanja di Indonesia Aja, or BINA Lebaran 2026, programme can continue to boost retail sales. The retailers taking part in this programme include 800 brands, 80,000 stores covering food and beverages, clothing, electronics, and other goods.

Promotions such as Midnight Sales were introduced to boost sales from 6-30 March 2026. ‘Most importantly, domestic consumption is endeavouring to meet stock,’ Budihardjo said.

In response to Budihardjo’s complaint, Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the delayed goods were not commodities imported. The types of goods also depend on orders from each entrepreneur. ‘It is up to each entrepreneur, not a commodity,’ Airlangga noted.

Airlangga expressed hope that sales this year will also rise and influence first-quarter 2026 economic growth. However the challenge is the conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran since late February 2026.

‘We do not yet know how long the war will last or how long transportation will be disrupted, especially from the Middle East,’ he said.
