JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI), Ade Jona Prasetyo, has emphasised that Germany is one of Indonesia’s most strategic economic partners in Europe. Cooperation between the two countries is considered crucial, particularly in the sectors of investment, modern manufacturing, technology, vocational education, and sustainable energy transition.

Ade Jona sees the arrival of senior German officials in Indonesia as a momentum that must be tactically leveraged to create tangible business collaborations for domestic entrepreneurs. “We see many opportunities to enhance more concrete cooperation, especially in investment, technology transfer, development of value-added industries, renewable energy, and human resource capacity building,” Ade Jona stated in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, the state visit of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to the State Palace serves as a crucial catalyst in strengthening bilateral relations while opening wider partnership channels for the private sectors of both nations. As the largest young entrepreneurs’ organisation in the country, HIPMI positions itself as the primary facilitator connecting local business players with the German business ecosystem. Young Indonesian entrepreneurs are believed to possess the competitiveness and flexibility to adopt global standards.

Ade Jona specifically highlighted Germany’s excellence in building modern manufacturing industries and the precision of their dual vocational education system. He noted that this teaching system could serve as an ideal blueprint for improving the quality of Indonesia’s industrial human resources. “Indonesia and Germany have a very strong foundation of relations. HIPMI is ready to be a strategic partner in bringing together business players from both countries. We want to encourage more business collaborations, investment, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship development programmes that can benefit both Indonesia and Germany,” he explained.

He expressed hope that this harmonisation of relations would facilitate the penetration of products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and young Indonesian entrepreneurs into the global supply chain and the stringent European Union market. This proactive step by BPP HIPMI aligns with the economic diplomacy direction set by the Palace. During the state visit, President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with President Steinmeier, emphasising Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating downstream industrialisation and inviting major German corporations to invest in the electric vehicle ecosystem and green energy sectors in Indonesia.
