HIPMI Chairman Election: Candidates Rally Regional Support and Gather Local Business Aspirations
Consolidation of regional support is strengthening in the process of electing the Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI). Candidates are beginning to rally support from various regions, while also absorbing the aspirations of local entrepreneurs as part of the agenda for future leadership.
One of the candidates, Ade Jona Prasetyo, has received support from the Regional Board of HIPMI in Papua Pegunungan. The support was handed over directly by the Chairman of the BPD HIPMI Papua Pegunungan, Anthonius Wetipo, in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026), following previous support from the BPD HIPMI Aceh.
Anthonius stated that the support reflects the hopes of young entrepreneurs in eastern Indonesia for more inclusive HIPMI leadership. “We believe that Tum Jona is capable of bringing real change. He understands the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs, especially in Papua Pegunungan,” he said on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Jona views support from the regions as an important part of building a more representative organisation.
He stated that the support also represents a responsibility to advocate for the role of regional entrepreneurs in the national economy.
According to Jona, business actors in the regions need to be encouraged not to be merely passive players, but also main actors in economic growth.
“Regional entrepreneurs must not just be spectators. Regional entrepreneurs must become the main actors in the national economy,” he said.
Jona added that he will continue to gather aspirations from various regions to strengthen the organisation’s network. “I will continue to absorb aspirations from all regions to make HIPMI an economic power network,” he said.
The strengthening of support from various regions is seen as influencing the competitive map in the HIPMI Chairman election. Regional-based consolidation is becoming an important factor in determining the direction of the organisation’s leadership in the future.
