HIPMI and eastern Indonesia
HIPMI and eastern Indonesia
From Neraca
This is a rather belated letter, but as an observer of the
performance of young businessmen, I take pride in the
establishment of the Association of Young Indonesian Businessmen
(HIPMI). I suggest to the board of executives of this
organization, elected in its national conference on May 20, 1995,
in Jakarta, to always pay due attention to the development of its
members in the eastern parts of Indonesia. Because, up to now,
HIPMI has shown a lack of concern about its members in the area.
Giving greater attention to the eastern area of Indonesia will
also mean that the organization helps the government in its
effort to develop this area. Greater concern for the condition of
the HIPMI members in the eastern part of the country will help
the organization create a more harmonious partnership with
Indonesian conglomerates and foreign companies.
In fact, the eastern part of Indonesia has great potential and
bountiful natural resources of great economic value. It should be
admitted that this part of the country still lacks
infrastructure. Therefore I hope that if HIPMI focuses more on
that territory the government will be pushed to build
infrastructure in conjunction with the conglomerates in Jakarta.
