Hino Shares Progress on B50 Biodiesel Testing
Purwakarta - The government is accelerating the B50 programme this year as part of a strategy to strengthen national energy resilience, while reducing dependence on imported diesel fuel.
PT Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) is one of the commercial vehicle manufacturers supporting this through road tests using B50 biodiesel.
Susilo Darmawan, Sales & After Sales Director of HMSI, stated that Hino has deployed its trucks and buses for B50 biodiesel trials with the government since early 2026.
“The results are, alhamdulillah, progressing well. I forget the exact mileage, but it’s probably already at 20,000-40,000 km. There have been no issues at all so far; it’s safe,” he said at Jiexpo Kemayoran on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Thus, no spare parts replacements have been needed to adapt to this fuel.
Additionally, Hino has conducted independent testing with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to evaluate vehicle performance and operation with B50.
The implementation of B50 is being driven by the Indonesian government as part of the roadmap towards the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.
This commitment is affirmed through the latest policies from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources via Ministerial Decree No. 113.K/EK.05/MEM.E/2026 on the Phasing of BBN Utilisation, as well as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 4 of 2025, which more comprehensively regulates the development and utilisation of BBN.
