Hindu, Buddhism directorate to split
DENPASAR, Bali: Minister of Religious Affairs Said Agil Munawar
and Minister of Administrative Reforms Feisal Tamin have accepted
a proposal to split the Hindu and Buddhism directorate into two
divisions, a senior official said on Monday.
"We wait for the final result as to when the government will
issue a policy on this issue," said Wayan Suarjaya, the director
general of Hindu and Buddhism at the Ministry of Religious
Affairs.
So far affairs related to Hindu and Buddhism have been dealt
with by the one directorate. Under the proposal, it will be
separated into two directorates.
Suarjaya said the plan to expand the directorate continued to
be scrutinized for realization in the near future.
The separation is aimed at improving efforts to empower the
followers of each religion.--Antara
