HIMKI Emphasises IFEX as Strategic Platform to Strengthen Indonesia's Craft Industry
Jakarta — The Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI) has affirmed that the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) represents a strategic platform for strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s furniture and craft industries in global markets.
HIMKI’s Chairman Abdul Sobur stated in Jakarta on Monday that through the IFEX 2026 event, held from 5–8 March 2026 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten, the association will present over 5,000 premium products from 500 exhibitors, bringing together world-renowned designers and national industry players in a collaborative forum.
“IFEX is a meeting space between tradition and the future. We cannot speak of global competitiveness without a foundation of culture, craftsmanship quality, and material sustainability,” he said.
Sobur noted that as part of the event series, HIMKI will also present the IFEX International Seminar entitled “Root of Excellent,” featuring several world-class design figures and industrial thinkers.
According to him, this seminar will serve as a strategic space that combines the strength of national manufacturing with global design vision.
This approach aligns with the spirit of IFEX 2026, which adopts the concept of “beyond comfort visual,” positioning design not merely as aesthetics but also as strategic economic value and national identity in international competition.
Meanwhile, HIMKI’s Deputy Secretary-General Syahrizal Mustafa assessed the event as highly strategic as it will bring together world-class designers with national industry players in a single dialogue platform that is equitable and inspirational.
He stated that with the support of industry players, associations, designers, strategic partners, and the government, this event is expected to further strengthen Indonesia’s position as a producer of high-quality furniture and craft capable of competing in global markets.
