Himbara Value Hits Rp1,100 Trillion, Prabowo Calls Its Role Highly Strategic
President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted the significant influence of the five banks that are members of the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) on the national economy. The combined market capitalisation of Bank Mandiri, BRI, BNI, BSI, and BTN now stands at approximately Rp1,100 trillion.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, who also serves as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, stated that this figure is equivalent to about 10 per cent of the total value of companies listed on the Indonesian capital market. “If combined, the value is around Rp1,100 trillion, which reflects about 10 per cent of the total value of companies in Indonesia,” Rosan said after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace on Thursday (18/6).
According to Rosan, the President has asked the boards of directors and commissioners of Himbara to recognise the enormous responsibility attached to state-owned banking. Given this weight, the government believes Himbara’s role extends far beyond mere financing functions. “These banks can play a very important role in all sectors. They are the lifeblood of our economy,” Rosan stated, quoting the President’s directive. Consequently, the government has requested that Himbara remain professional and uphold prudential principles while supporting national priority programmes.
