The Jeffrey Epstein sexual crimes case continues to unfold. Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has now been called to testify before the US Congress.

Hillary testified before a US congressional committee on Thursday, 26 February. She was questioned intensively for seven hours about her family’s past relationship with Epstein.

Hillary, as reported by Reuters and CNN on Friday, 27 February 2025, asserted that she had never met Epstein and possessed no information to share regarding Epstein’s criminal activities.

The question-and-answer session conducted by the House Oversight Committee was held behind closed doors, after Hillary’s request for an open public session was rejected by the Republican-controlled House. The session took place in Chappaqua, New York, near the residence of Hillary and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

“I don’t recall ever meeting Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, house, or office,” Hillary stated in a statement released whilst she was still giving closed-door testimony.

Denying Acquaintance with Jeffrey Epstein

Approximately seven hours after testifying before the US Congress, Hillary appeared before journalists to explain the testimony she had given to the House Oversight Committee. She said she had “answered every question they posed as fully as possible based on what I know”.

To journalists, Hillary reiterated that she had never met and never communicated with Epstein. “I don’t know how many times I have to say, ‘I don’t know Jeffrey Epstein’,” she told the press.

However, Hillary acknowledged that she knew Ghislaine Maxwell, who is now imprisoned for her involvement in Epstein’s sexual crimes. Hillary stated that she knew Maxwell “casually as an acquaintance” and that Maxwell “attended as the companion of an invited guest” to the wedding of her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, in 2010.

When speaking to journalists, Hillary again criticised the Republican-controlled House for “refusing to hold an open hearing” and not allowing media personnel to attend the question-and-answer session, forcing her to explain what transpired in the closed-door session to the press.

According to CNN’s reporting, Hillary in her opening statement at the closed-door session questioned why the Republican-led committee did not summon other parties with connections to Epstein, including President Donald Trump.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, a Republican, rejected the suggestion to bring Trump before his committee.

“President Trump has answered hundreds, possibly thousands of questions from all of you about Epstein, and I believe he has been very transparent in releasing those documents,” Comer said when speaking to journalists after Hillary’s testimony.

Beyond Hillary, Bill Clinton was scheduled to be questioned by the same committee on Friday, 27 February, US time.
