Hill Landslide in Jepara Blocks Road with Large Boulders
A landslide in the hilly area of Tempur Village, Keling District, Jepara Regency has resulted in a road access closure. The road connecting Damarwulan and Tempur villages is now blocked by large boulders.
Large boulders covering the road originated from a hillside 75 metres high on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. Residents of Tempur Village wishing to travel must now use an alternative route via Medani Road.
“Following a 75-metre landslide high on the hillside yesterday, a larger landslide occurred last night around 20:00 WIB with large boulders,” said Tempur Village Head Maryono in a video statement to journalists on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
As a result, the landslide has blocked and damaged the road surface. A four-metre-diameter section of road is completely covered with debris from the landslide.
“This landslide has damaged the road surface, with a four-metre diameter section and the entire length of this road covered with material,” he explained.
“(Evacuation) requires the use of breaker equipment; manual labour is no longer sufficient. Please convey to the Jepara Regent that this access route must be evacuated urgently, as this is a primary route requiring immediate attention,” he added.
