Hiking fuel prices: Much too easy!
Hiking fuel prices: Much too easy!
From Republika
The corruption that is pervasive in our society, not the
soaring global price of oil, is the major cause of the economic
crisis in this country. Consequently, the number of poor people
is increasing, and more and more people cannot afford to pay for
their children's education. This will keep the community,
particularly the younger generation, in a state of ignorance.
The weakening of the country's currency (the rupiah), the
erosion of morality among young people, the luxurious lifestyles
of government officials and the wasteful spending of government
funds all show that something is wrong in our society.
Sadly, the government's economic team is not sensitive enough
to what is happening and the government has resorted to easiest
way out to solve the problem, i.e., by increasing the price of
fuel. Anyone can do that!.
Please consider the following.
* To solve the state budget deficit: Bring all corruptors to
court. They certainly deserve the death sentence. Confiscate
their assets and the wealth they have gained through illegal
means.
* Ban the holding of foreign currency deposits by government
officials and members of their families.
* Prohibit the use of foreign products and strongly encourage
the use of domestic ones.
* Overseas travel using government funds should be only in cases
of absolute necessity.
* Lastly, labor intensive work should be created to reduce the
unemployment rate and at the same time improve the people's
welfare.
