Highland Gathering in Karawaci

JAKARTA (JP): This year's Highland Gathering, which last year
was held at Senayan Stadium, will move to a spacious new venue at
Lippo Karawaci, according to the Gathering's spokesman.

The new stadium would give more room for the hundreds of
participants and several thousand spectators who are expected at
the Gathering, scheduled on June 15, Robert Dover said in a
statement.

"Everything is falling into place for what promises to be one
of the most entertaining and exciting Highland Gatherings in many
years," he said.

This perfect setting, very similar to the typical Highland
Gathering held in Scotland each year, will provide an opportunity
for the public to see the events, he said.

Major events at the Gathering will include, among other
things, parachute jumping, a pipe-band competition and Scottish
country dance competitions involving teams from Hong Kong, Kuala
Lumpur and Singapore.

Other attractions will be a 10-km race, a volleyball
competition, the ever-popular tug-of-war, and all the usual track
and field events, including the five-a-side soccer competition
and mini rugby.

"The wood choppers from Australia will again be performing
their feats of skill and of course the heavy performers from
Scotland," Dover said. (hhr)
