Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister says Indonesia-France collaboration is a long-term investment to strengthen national competitiveness

Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto said the Indonesia-France collaboration is a strategic opportunity to expand international networks for Indonesian higher education institutions.

Brian stated that the partnership between the two nations can accelerate the transformation of higher education to be more adaptive to scientific and technological advancements.

‘Indonesia and France’s collaboration in higher education, science, technology, and innovation is a long-term investment to strengthen national competitiveness,’ Brian said in a press statement on Friday, 29 May 2026.

Through the Joint Declaration on Education, Research, and Mobility adopted by both countries, Indonesia and France are expanding collaboration in higher education, research, and academic mobility.

‘This partnership is expected to create more opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, research collaborations, innovation development, and strengthening technology-based entrepreneurial ecosystems,’ he added.

The forum serves as a platform to formulate concrete initiatives to strengthen relationships between higher education institutions, research centres, industries, and innovation ecosystems of both nations.

Additionally, Indonesia and France have prioritised innovation strengthening as a strategic agenda through the France-Indonesia Year of Innovation 2026.

‘The enhanced cooperation with France aligns with the Higher Education, Science and Technology Ministry’s policy direction to position universities as centres for innovation and solutions to various development challenges,’ Brian explained.
