Higher education must remain accessible to students from diverse economic backgrounds. Universities bear the responsibility of opening up opportunities for young people to obtain quality education.

Amidst the intense competition for university entry via the 2026 National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB) has reopened its SNBT Scholarship programme for new students in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Deputy Rector for Resources at UMB, Prof Rizki Briandana, stated the initiative is part of the university’s effort to broaden access to higher education for academically promising and high-achieving Indonesian youth.

‘This SNBT Scholarship programme reflects our commitment to supporting educational access and developing Indonesia’s human resources,’ said Rizki in Jakarta on Saturday (30 May 2026).

He noted that increasingly competitive job markets require universities to produce graduates who are not only academically strong but also adaptable, critically thinking, and globally aware.

Therefore, alongside various scholarship schemes, UMB continues to develop learning programmes aligned with industry needs and international developments. ‘This includes international programmes and joint degrees that offer students cross-border academic experiences,’ Rizki added.

Rizki believes students today need a learning environment that integrates academic competencies, professional skills, and global experiences to prepare for a dynamic job market. ‘We aim to ensure students receive quality education while also having opportunities to grow through programmes relevant to future needs,’ he said.

UMB, which recently achieved Excellent accreditation, offers diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes. ‘We actively encourage students to participate in national and international competitions, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development,’ he explained.

Rizki added that prospective students interested in the SNBT Scholarship can apply online via the official website or through WhatsApp at 0811-9852-020.

‘For SNBT candidates still seeking higher education alternatives, this scholarship provides a chance to continue studies with financial support and access to various competency development and international experience programmes,’ he concluded.
