Higher Education Ministry Appoints UTM as Centre for Developing Lecturers’ Potential
Bangkalan (ANTARA) — Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) has appointed Trunojoyo University Madura (UTM) in Bangkalan, East Java, to operate a centre for developing lecturers’ potential.
“This is in accordance with Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Decree No. 114/B/KPT/2026, which we have received,” UTM Rector Professor Safi said in Bangkalan on Monday.
Safi said the appointment was a strategic step for UTM in strengthening its role as a centre for developing the competencies of lecturers on Madura Island.
“By being appointed to provide training, UTM will not only have the opportunity to improve the quality of teaching on its own campus, but will also open up access to professional development for lecturers from various universities, including private universities in Madura,” he said.
He said the appointment was both a responsibility and an opportunity for UTM to make a wider contribution to improving the quality of higher education and developing human resources in the sector.
“We hope this will strengthen the competencies of lecturers at UTM and also benefit lecturers from universities across Madura in particular, and Indonesia more generally,” Safi said.
UTM is among 74 universities appointed to provide training under Ministerial Decree No. 114/B/KPT/2026.
