A high school student with the initials DK (18) died after being struck by a commuter line train between Rawa Buaya Station and Batu Ceper Station in West Jakarta. Police said the victim was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by his father when the collision occurred.

Kalideres Police Chief Kompol Rihold Sihotang confirmed that the incident involved a father and son, with the victim being the pillion passenger. He had not yet provided details on the father’s current condition, but confirmed that DK died at the scene. The case is being handled by the traffic accident unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

Traffic law enforcement unit head of West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Joko Siswanto, explained that the incident occurred on Thursday, 20 August, at 6.30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. The victim was travelling from north to south. Upon reaching the vicinity of the Semanan Tembok Bolong railway crossing in Kalideres, West Jakarta, the motorcycle was struck by a commuter line train travelling from the left side, heading towards Tangerang. The locomotive number and the identity of the train driver are not yet known.

The traffic accident was unavoidable. The victim suffered head injuries and died at the scene. The body was evacuated to Tangerang Regency Regional General Hospital.
