Budiansyah, a teacher at SMAN 1 Karamat, has reported a student, identified by the initials R, to the police following an alleged assault in Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi. The student is suspected of punching the teacher after being reprimanded for causing a disturbance while the school principal was delivering a lecture.

The incident took place on a road in Monano Village, Lakea District, on Friday (24/07/2026) at approximately 3:00 PM WITA. Budiansyah stated that he was repeatedly struck after being intercepted during his journey home.

“I went straight to the Buol Police Resort to report it. I was initially asked to undergo mediation, but I refused. The behaviour was simply too much,” said Budiansyah, as reported by detikSulsel on Friday (31/07).

The assault began when Budiansyah reprimanded the student following Friday prayers at SMAN 1 Karamat. At the time, the suspect was deemed to be causing a disturbance during the principal’s lecture.

“After Friday prayers, there was a short lecture from the principal. While the lecture was ongoing, a student sitting next to me was being noisy. I reprimanded him several times, but he ignored me,” he explained.

Budiansyah then spontaneously used the turban he was holding to reprimand the student. However, the end of the turban reportedly accidentally struck the student’s temple.

“I reprimanded him using the turban from behind. Because the turban is long, the end hit the child’s temple. There was no intention to hit him hard,” Budiansyah added.
