High school graduates nabbed for selling heroin

JAKARTA (JP): Two fresh high school graduates were arrested for illegally possessing and selling heroin to schoolmates, police said.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday two male students, identified as Y and H, were arrested Thursday night near their school on Jl. Panglima Polim, South Jakarta.

"The arrest was based on a report by a former classmate of the students'," Aritonang said.

Classmate Mes, who failed his final examinations, reported Y and H for their alleged drug-dealing at school.

Mes' father told journalists his son had reported Y and H to the police because he envied Y and H for passing their exams.

"My son is smart and worked hard at school, while his two friends often skipped classes. Not to mention their drug dealing activities," Mes' father said.

Police then set up a transaction with the two students by using Mes as a bait.

Y and H were arrested while giving Mes 0.5 grams of heroin he had bought with Rp 125,000 (US$51) provided by police.
