The public satisfaction rate with President Prabowo Subianto’s administration has reached 79.2% according to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia. This figure is said to be the highest compared to his predecessors. However, behind this achievement, several points for evaluation are still being raised.
Executive Director of Indeks Data Nasional, Ayip Tayana, believes that the high public satisfaction is due to the perception that the government’s current policy direction is clear. “This shows that the public believes the government is on the right track or has a clear direction,” said Ayip Tayana on Thursday (25/2).
He sees other factors that shape this positive perception as consistency in realizing campaign promises. Several programmes that were previously promised are now starting to run, starting from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP), the Red and White Fisherman Village (KNMP), to rice self-sufficiency and free health checks.
“At a glance, most of Prabowo’s campaign promises have begun to be realized, from MBG with 60 million recipients, KDMP present in every village, rice self-sufficiency in the first year, Red and White Fisherman Village on the coast, free People’s Schools for the poor, to free health checks,” he explained.
However, Ayip reminded that implementation in the field still requires strict supervision. The MBG programme, for example, according to him, must be evaluated in terms of menu diversity and food safety, following cases of poisoning in recent months.
“In the past few months, there have been cases of poisoning, so a more serious evaluation is needed. If necessary, close down the naughty kitchens that do not comply with the SOPs that have been provided,” he added.
Similarly, the People’s School programme, which is aimed at poor and extremely poor communities, has also been highlighted. He believes that the purpose of the programme is positive, but the quality of teachers, curriculum, and facilities must be continuously evaluated to ensure that it does not just become a short-term project.
Meanwhile, the Red and White Village Cooperative is considered to have the right vision to drive the village economy collectively. However, Ayip emphasizes the importance of professional management so that the cooperative does not lose out in competition with large corporations or even kill small businesses in the village.
“In other words, the government’s promises and programmes have been running well, but the quality, equity and sustainability of the programmes still need strict supervision and evaluation so that the impact continues to be felt by all the people of Indonesia,” he concluded. (E-4)
The Indikator survey recorded that the satisfaction level of residents in West Java with the performance of Governor Dedi Mulyadi reached 95.5 percent.
