The wave of Lebaran 2026 return travel in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta region continues to show a high trend. As of Thursday (26/3) at 09:00 WIB, a total of 52,471 passengers arrived at various stations in Jakarta and surrounding areas, exceeding the number of departures on the same day.

Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, confirmed that the current arrival volume is significantly higher compared to the departure figure of 33,520 passengers.

“The return flow in the Daop 1 Jakarta region remains quite high. Arrival volume still dominates over departures, and we ensure that services run safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” Franoto stated in a written release on Thursday (26/3).

He explained that Pasar Senen and Gambir Stations once again serve as the main arrival points for passengers. On this day, Pasar Senen recorded 18,203 arriving passengers, followed by Gambir with 15,815 passengers, and Bekasi with 8,477 passengers.

Meanwhile, for departures, Pasar Senen also had the highest volume with 15,061 passengers, followed by Gambir with 7,828 passengers and Bekasi with 5,448 passengers.

KAI recorded that during the Lebaran transport period from 11 March to 1 April 2026, the total capacity provided reached 1,083,674 seats for long-distance train services. As of 26 March, 742,715 passengers have been transported, with total tickets sold reaching 858,748 or an average occupancy of 79 percent.

Although the return flow is still ongoing, opportunities for the public to travel remain open. For the period from 26 March to 1 April 2026, 198,535 seats are still available for customers.

The surge in passenger mobility has been evident since the start of the homecoming period. During 11–20 March, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta transported 483,389 passengers, with the peak homecoming flow on 18 March reaching 53,576 passengers in one day.

Entering the Lebaran period on 21-22 March, departure volume was recorded at 97,297 passengers, while arrivals reached 62,254 passengers. Since the start of the return flow on 23 March, daily arrival numbers have consistently ranged from 49,000 to 53,000 passengers.

Passengers arriving in Jakarta are predominantly from cities in Central Java, East Java, DI Yogyakarta, and West Java, such as Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, to Bandung. Meanwhile, popular destinations during the Lebaran period include Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Purwokerto, and Jember.

Amid high demand, KAI also offers several incentives, including a 20 percent discount for executive class under the “Promo Silaturahmi” programme, valid until 1 April 2026. Additionally, a 30 percent discount for commercial economy class was provided from 14-29 March as part of support for the government’s economic stimulus.

In terms of availability, until the end of the Lebaran transport period, there are still 123,081 executive class seats, 64,756 commercial economy seats, and 10,698 PSO economy seats available.

KAI also strengthens on-site services by providing additional facilities, ranging from extra cleaning staff, mobile customer service, integrated security with TNI/Polri, to Lebaran-themed services at stations and on trains.

Overall, the total tickets sold for long-distance and local train services during the Lebaran transport period reached 943,673 tickets, with an average occupancy rate of 78 percent from a total capacity of 1,206,610 seats.
