Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) has increased quotas and extended the booking schedule for the second phase of rupiah currency exchanges through the PINTAR application for the Java region.

BI Communications Department Head Ramdan Denny Prakoso said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday that the move was taken in response to the high public enthusiasm for the Semarak Rupiah Ramadan dan Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) 2026 programme.

With the schedule extension, bookings for rupiah currency exchanges in the Java region can now be made earlier, starting from 24 February 2026 at 08:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) until quotas are exhausted.

Previously, BI had scheduled second-phase exchange bookings for 26 February 2026 at 08:00 WIB for the Java region.

However, for areas outside Java, currency exchange bookings will still commence on 27 February 2026 at 08:00 WIB until quotas are exhausted.

The first phase of bookings was conducted on 13 February 2026 for the Java region and from 14 February 2026 for areas outside Java.

As part of the SERAMBI 2026 programme, which runs until 15 March 2026, BI has prepared Rp185.6 trillion in fit-for-circulation cash.

Of that amount, Rp177 trillion has been allocated to meet banking needs, including cash withdrawals through ATMs and bank branch offices.

For currency exchange services, BI has this year prepared Rp8.6 trillion in denominations of Rp5.3 million per package.

Exchange services are available at 2,883 locations with a total of 8,755 service points operated by BI and banks throughout Indonesia.

The exchange services can be accessed through various channels, including mobile cash units, commercial bank offices, and integrated exchange services at strategic locations such as places of worship and community activity centres.

For the DKI Jakarta region specifically, integrated exchange services will be held on 12-15 March 2026 at the GBK Basketball Hall, Senayan.
