The West Nusa Tenggara High Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an alleged corruption case concerning the rental of electric cars within the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, valued at IDR 14 billion. The electric cars were designated as official vehicles for a number of regional apparatus organisations. The investigation stems from a public complaint received by the High Prosecutor’s Office on 2 June 2026, with letter number: 006/NTWP/V/2026. The Assistant for Special Crimes at the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, Muh Zulkifli Said, did not deny the receipt of the report. ‘Yes, it’s in,’ he said briefly on Tuesday. Information gathered indicates that several witnesses have been examined by the High Prosecutor’s Office, including the company that supplied the electric vehicles. Regarding this, Zulkifli declined to provide extensive comment, stating only that the report is still being studied and reviewed. ‘We are still looking into it,’ he said. The NTB Provincial Government allocated a budget of approximately IDR 14 billion to rent 72 electric cars for one year. The rental cost per unit ranged from IDR 16 million to IDR 19 million per month. Of the total vehicles rented, 47 were sport utility vehicles and 25 were multi-purpose vehicles, with brands including JAECOO and BYD. All the rented vehicles were new units with vehicle identification numbers from late 2025 and 2026 production.
