The Head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor’s Office, Wahyudi, stated that corruptors in NTB are more likely to serve prison sentences as substitutes rather than paying back losses to the state.

“Most of them are opting for substitute prison sentences,” Wahyudi said on Wednesday (2/9/202textup26).

Wahyudi made these remarks while presenting the performance of the Asset Recovery Division (BPA) of the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office. For 2026, the division has set a target to recover state finances through the collection of restitution from corruption cases amounting to Rp 169 billion.

However, as of August, this target remains far from being met. The division has only managed to collect less than Rp 10 billion. “From the total target for restitution, there is more than Rp 169 billion. So far, only about Rp 9.7 billion has been collected,” he noted.

Wahyudi admitted that the Rp 169 billion target is difficult to achieve. “It is indeed quite heavy, because most of them are opting for substitute prison sentences. This is something we need to be wary of,” he said.

Additionally, the Asset Recovery Division has a target for Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) of Rp 8.3 billion for this year. “The 2026 target is Rp 8.3 billion, and the realisation is at Rp 7.2 billion, which is a relatively good achievement,” he added.

Furthermore, the division has secured over Rp 294 million from asset auctions. “Recently, a simultaneous auction of seized goods was conducted, successfully depositing Rp 294 million. This is the result of auctioning confiscated assets,” he said.

Prosecutors are investigating 23 corruption cases in NTB. Wahyudi stated that the handling of these 23 cases is currently at the investigation stage. The workload is distributed across various local prosecutor’s offices.

“According to our records, in 2026, the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office and its subordinates have a total of 24 investigations, 23 of which have progressed to the prosecution stage,” Wahyudi explained.

Wahyudi detailed that the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office is handling six specific cases. These include corruption in land procurement for the Samota MXGP Circuit in Sumbawa (2023); a gratification case involving the former Head of the Sumbawa National Land Agency (BPN), Subhan; and a money laundering case involving the same individual.

Other cases include corruption regarding the cooperation for the development and management of the water supply system in Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno between PT Gerbang NTB Emas (GNE) and PT Berkat Air Laut (BAL).

Additionally, there is a corruption case involving an Rp 11 billion credit from Bank NTB Syariah to PT Carsten Group Indonesia (CGI) for the implementation of MXGP 2023. Finally, there is corruption related to the 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition (LSMC), which utilised a budget of Rp 24 billion sourced from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).

Wahyudi noted that three local prosecutor’s offices in NTB are handling the fewest cases at the investigation stage: the offices in East Lombok, Sumbawa, and Mataram, each handling only one case.

Meanwhile, the Bima and Central Lombok offices are handling four cases each, while the Dompu and West Sumbawa offices are handling three cases each. “So, there are a total of 23 investigations. That is the performance of the Special Crimes division,” he said.

Prosecutor’s offices handling only one case at the investigation stage will undergo evaluation. This includes the Mataram office, which oversees three areas: Mataram City, West Lombok, and North Lombok. “That will certainly be part of our evaluation notes,” he concluded.
