High Enthusiasm: Tattoo Removal Programme at South Jakarta City Hall Attracts Many Residents

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – More than 100 people participated in the Ramadan Tattoo Removal Roadshow programme organised by the National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Jakarta at the South Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (26/2/2026).

The South Jakarta Mayor, M. Anwar, said that registration for the programme was initially opened online with a limited quota. The enthusiasm of the participants meant that the initial quota of 100 people was exceeded.

“Today, the quota is 100, but if more people come on the spot, we will still serve them,” said Anwar at the location on Thursday.

Anwar said he had heard directly from residents who regretted having tattoos on their bodies.

“Hopefully, with this tattoo removal, they will receive guidance to increase their faith and piety,” said Anwar.

One of the participants who came without registering online was the child of Yanti (60), a resident of Kebayoran Lama. Yanti said she found out about the programme from a television broadcast.

Initially, Yanti took her child to the Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque because she thought the activity was still taking place there. However, upon arriving at the location, she was informed that the tattoo removal programme at the mosque had ended two days earlier.

Yanti was then directed to the South Jakarta City Hall. Without finding out more about the requirements or the number of sessions, she immediately took her child to register on the spot.

The tattoo removal programme lasted until 16:00 WIB. Baznas DKI Jakarta has scheduled a similar activity next at the East Jakarta City Hall on 3 March 2026.
