High Demand for Muslim Burial Land Drives Early Planning

The growing need for organised and sharia-compliant Muslim burial land continues to rise, particularly in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek). Amid this situation, some families are choosing to prepare burial plots early to avoid the difficulty of finding a location when a time of mourning arrives. This condition forms part of the background for the development of Insira Memorial Park, which has now officially entered its operational phase after the completion of its first cluster, ready for use. With the initial cluster operational, at-need burial services—those conducted at the time of bereavement—can now be carried out.

Insira Memorial Park President Director Nugrohadi Yuwono stated that operational readiness was marked by a certificate handover ceremony held last week, attended by over 100 people including Insira management, the Sharia Advisory Board, and customers entering the unit handover period. “Currently, Insira Memorial Park’s development has reached the operational stage. The first cluster is complete and officially functional, so at-need burial services can now be performed in this area,” Nugrohadi said in a written statement on Friday (12/6).

According to him, Insira Memorial Park has also issued hundreds of ownership certificates handed over gradually to customers. The certificate serves as proof of ownership and land usage rights for the burial plot, while providing legal certainty for the holder. “This certificate is proof of ownership and burial land usage rights, which also guarantees the holder receives unit maintenance services, land legality assurance, and peace of mind because the family burial land has been prepared well in advance,” Nugrohadi said.

Currently, the initial development of Insira Memorial Park covers an area of more than 30 hectares. In the future, the area has the potential to be expanded to 100 hectares to meet the continuously rising demand for Muslim burial land, especially in the Jabodetabek region. “We are preparing this expansion to answer the high public demand for organised, sharia-compliant Muslim burial land, particularly in Jabodetabek,” he stated.

Nugrohadi believes that preparing burial land early can be a solution for families to avoid the difficulty of finding a burial location when mourning comes. Additionally, extended families can have burial areas close together within one complex. “By preparing the land early, families no longer need to face the hardship of finding a plot during a time of grief. We also enable extended family graves to be situated in one adjacent area,” he said.

The choice to prepare burial plots earlier has also been taken by some customers. Tri Endah Handayani admitted she deliberately prepared her burial plot now so as not to burden her children later. “I want to have a proper place ready at the end of my life. So the children already know the place and I won’t trouble them too much later,” she said. She began considering the importance of owning a burial plot after seeing several cemeteries she felt were in poor condition. “Initially, I saw some friends who passed away buried in places with unpleasant conditions, some near rubbish dumps, others had to be stacked. From there, I started looking for a more proper burial place. After searching, I felt Insira was the closest and most suitable for me,” she said.

Another customer, Arbianti, also admitted she had long planned to prepare a burial plot for herself and her family as part of future planning. “Indeed, I have long intended to have my own burial plot so as not to burden my children later. I once saw a burial site in Karawang, but I thought it was too far. I hoped for one closer to Tangerang. When I saw Insira on social media and the location matched what I was looking for, I came straight away,” she said. According to Arbianti, location is a primary consideration in choosing a burial area. Besides being easily accessible for family, good access is also considered to facilitate future pilgrimage visits.

From an accessibility standpoint, Nugrohadi said Insira Memorial Park’s location is a key advantage because it has direct access via toll roads and provincial roads without needing to pass through small streets or alleys. He noted this access will be further supported by the planned construction of the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road section, which has a toll exit approximately 300 metres from the burial complex. In terms of products, Insira offers burial units starting from Rp26.9 million for the Single type up to Rp549 million for the Signature Family type.

The company also opens options for unit type adjustments according to customer needs. As part of its marketing strategy, the company offers a cashback programme for purchases of at least four plot units. The programme provides cashback ranging from Rp24 million to Rp200 million, depending on the burial type selected. This programme is aimed particularly at extended families wanting to prepare adjacent burial areas within one complex.

Beyond providing burial land, Insira Memorial Park is also equipped with various supporting facilities such as a mosque and prayer rooms, lounge, café and restaurant, children’s play area, plaza, marketing gallery, drop-off area, spacious parking, and comfortable restroom facilities. The complex also features pedestrian paths friendly to the elderly and persons with disabilities. Insira additionally provides 24-hour burial services to ensure families receive assistance whenever needed.
