Amid economic dynamics, gold remains a prime investment trusted to withstand inflation. This is evidenced by the increasing public interest in owning gold through bullion instalment schemes. This phenomenon has also occurred at Bank Syariah Indonesia, which recorded positive growth in its gold business. Up to April 2026, gold instalment realisation grew by 97.90% year on year, reaching Rp 16.93 trillion. The increase shows that more people understand the importance of investment diversification and see gold as a safe alternative instrument to achieve medium and long-term financial goals. BSI Sales & Distribution Director Anton Sukarna said gold still holds appeal for people wishing to make sharia-compliant investments in instruments that are safe and believed to be resilient against inflation. ‘This is the potential we are developing to expand the reach of BSI gold customers,’ he stated. The gold instalment service is popular across all age groups, from Gen Z and millennials to baby boomers, driven by flexible tenors, adjustable instalments, and the appeal of ANTAM and BSI Gold bullion. Anton noted that gold can serve as an asset for urgent or long-term needs such as school fees, pilgrimage, or wedding preparations for young people. ‘To that end, we have prepared various sizes of bullion, from 5 grams to 100 grams,’ he said. To strengthen the gold ecosystem, as a bullion bank BSI is now also working with ANTAM regarding gold stock supply, aiming to boost aggressive expansion from synergies built over more than 10 years. This step demonstrates BSI’s seriousness in supporting the Government’s Astacita agenda through gold monetisation and a sustainable gold ecosystem. Throughout 2025, BSI absorbed more than 60% of ANTAM’s gold sales in the related category, and roughly 11% of ANTAM’s total overall gold sales. BSI and ANTAM have agreed to increase collaboration covering physical bullion trading through digital access, strengthening retail distribution, and synergising marketing, literacy, and gold investment education for the public.
