High Demand Boosts Free State-Owned Enterprise Mudik Travel by 10.3 Per Cent
Jakarta — The realisation of the state-owned enterprises (BUMN) free mudik programme for Eid 2026 increased compared to the previous year.
The number of travellers dispatched reached 116,688 people. This figure represents a 10.3 per cent increase compared to 2025’s realisation of 105,794 travellers.
Muhammad Awaluddin, Director General of PT Jasa Raharja, stated that the increase reflects strong public interest in the programme.
“The 2026 BUMN free mudik programme reached 116,688 travellers across three transport modes: buses, trains, and ships,” said Awaluddin in Jakarta on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
The dispatch target was exceeded, with 116,688 travellers dispatched, equivalent to 112.2 per cent of the 104,000-person target.
“From a target of 104,000 travellers, actual dispatch reached 116,688 people or 112.2 per cent. This demonstrates the high level of public enthusiasm for the BUMN free mudik programme,” he said.
Traveller dispatch occurred across three main transport modes.
The maritime mode utilised 46 vessels, transporting 4,532 travellers on 14–15 March 2026.
The rail mode operated 99 train sets, transporting 28,720 travellers on 16–17 March 2026.
The bus mode proved most dominant, with 1,541 vehicles dispatched on 15–18 March 2026. Bus transport carried 83,436 travellers, the largest contributor to the programme.
“Specifically in Jakarta, 165 buses were dispatched to various mudik destinations,” Awaluddin explained.
