The Bekasi Metro Police have arrested five of seven suspects involved in the deaths of two people found in a ditch in a housing complex in Bekasi, West Java. Police revealed the perpetrators also stole the victims’ motorcycles during the brawl. “They obscured the motive to make it appear like a regular teenage brawl. In fact, there was a hidden malicious intent to seize the opponent’s property,” said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro on Friday (26/6/2026). The incident occurred on Friday (19/6) at around 4:10 AM Western Indonesian Time. Of the seven perpetrators, police have apprehended five, identified as KFA (the mastermind and a repeat offender with a four-year history of robbery), RNAF (a repeat brawler), TH, RF, and H. He stated the incident stemmed from a brawl planned via social media between the ‘Timur Everybody’ and ‘Gasruk Mentality’ groups. However, upon arrival, the victim’s group chose to retreat and turn back due to being outnumbered. Seeing their opponents flee, the Timur Everybody group, led by repeat robbery offender KFA, attacked brutally with the hidden intention of looting the victims’ motorcycles. “When they saw the enemy was few in number, they chased them, attacked mercilessly using sharp weapons, and then fled with the motorbike to sell it,” Kusumo said. The brutal assault occurred in two locations. At the first site, in front of a water park, victim ZR was beaten until his finger was severed, and his Honda Vario motorcycle was seized by the mastermind KFA. The perpetrators then gave chase to Jalan Raya Cimuning, where three victims riding a motorcycle—identified as DORG, FPP, and MTA—crashed into a road barrier and were thrown into a ditch. The attackers then rained down blows using sickles, a ‘cocor bebek’ blade, and a wooden beam. Two victims, DORG and FPP, died at the scene, while MTA suffered a broken shoulder. The victims’ Honda Beat motorcycle was also stolen. “In less than four hours after the incident, the Criminal Investigation Unit team moved quickly to secure the perpetrators in the Rawalumbu area. We were also assisted by the Bareskrim Polri Mobile Investigation Team in hunting down one of the perpetrators as far as Tangerang,” he explained. Police have urged the two remaining fugitives, identified as ZG and FD, to surrender. Evidence seized includes four sickles, one ‘cocor bebek’ blade, a 150 cm wooden beam, and the victims’ motorcycles. “There is no safe hiding place for criminals in Bekasi City,” he stressed. The perpetrators, all of whom are adults, are charged under Article 479 paragraphs (3) and (4) and Article 262 paragraphs (3) and (4) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, relating to violent theft committed jointly and assault resulting in death. The suspects face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
