Hidayat Nur Wahid Listens to Hajj Pilgrims' Concerns Over Elevators and Washing Machines
The DPR’s Hajj Supervisory Team, led by Hidayat Nur Wahid, conducted visits to meet pilgrims and officials ahead of the Hajj climax in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina to gather concerns and findings for advocacy.
The oversight visits began upon arrival in Makkah on Thursday, 21 May 2026, with meetings with several flight groups (kloter) from Jakarta.
“Alhamdulillah, I could engage with Hajj pilgrims and religious leaders guiding them from South Jakarta,” Hidayat said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.
Among the groups visited was Jakarta’s Kloter 2 in Sector 7 Misfalah, Makkah, where Hidayat met and spoke with hundreds of pilgrims and group leaders, including hearing from religious figures such as Kiai Haji Lutfi Zawawi (Chairman of the Ulama and Habib Forum/FUHAB) and Kiai Haji A Nawawi Halim (Chair of South Jakarta’s MUI).
Besides collecting issues to report to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hidayat also provided guidance to help pilgrims maximise their time in Makkah for worship and preparation—physically, in Hajj knowledge, and mentally—for the climax in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina.
He also prayed for the pilgrims’ ease and health, a blessed and accepted Hajj, and for Indonesia, Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Palestine.
“May all pilgrims be granted health and ease before the Hajj climax. After waiting years to be in Makkah, it is vital to make the most of it to attain an accepted Hajj, with accepted deeds and prayers answered by Allah SWT, and for these blessings to continue after returning to Indonesia,” he said.
As Deputy Speaker of the MPR and a member of the DPR’s Commission VIII, Hidayat also met the family of Hajj pilgrim M. Firdaus Ahlan from Kloter 27, who was previously reported missing and found deceased in the Kuday hills of Makkah.
Accompanied by the South Jakarta MUI Secretary General, Kiai Haji Yasdar, based in Misfalah, Makkah, Hidayat visited the family to offer condolences and financial assistance. “We pray for the deceased to attain a good end, have all sins forgiven, have their Hajj deeds and intentions accepted, and be placed in the best position with Allah SWT,” he said.
