Beirut (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of Hezbollah’s Political Council Mahmoud Komati has warned that the Lebanese government’s stance towards the group could potentially cause internal divisions and plunge the country into chaos.

“We continue to show tolerance for this government’s mistakes. However, if it persists with the same policies, we anticipate that it will lead this country into chaos, internal divisions, and an undesirable situation,” Komati told RIA Novosti.

He added that this situation is reflected in the rising public criticism against the Lebanese government, which is seen as leading to subordination to the United States and Israel.

Regarding its relationship with the current Lebanese government, Komati explained that Hezbollah remains part of the government and continues to participate in it to maintain a minimum level of stability in the country under the current circumstances.

Nevertheless, he added, the government is increasingly submitting to US pressure and Israeli interests.

“And the government is increasingly making decisions that harm the resistance movement. Yet, it is the resistance movement that defends Lebanon and its sovereignty for its liberation, which the government flatly rejects,” he said.
