Hezbollah Blames Lebanese Government in Negotiations with Israel

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said on Friday (29/8/2026) that the Lebanese government had chosen a path that ‘does not bring pride to Lebanon’ by entering direct negotiations with Israel.

He stressed that Hezbollah rejects the framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in the United States on 26 June 2026.

In a televised statement, Qassem said that the negotiations did not stop the war, but instead gave it legitimacy.

He described the move as a humiliating surrender to the enemy without obtaining anything in return.

Qassem accused the Lebanese government of making its people and country pay the price in the negotiations in order to maintain your power and please America, which is conspiring with Israel.

According to him, the current situation is not a mutual war, but rather a real Israeli aggression, whose intensity rises and falls.

He assessed that the decline in the intensity of the attacks was related to ‘Iran and the memorandum of understanding’.

Qassem also stressed that Hezbollah does not want war. He referred to his group’s approval of the 27 November 2024 agreement and its commitment to implementing the agreement.

He also assessed that Israel would not be able to establish settlements in South Lebanon because the region would not be stable as long as there was resistance.

According to him, Hezbollah has broken the ‘Greater Israel’ project and prevented Israel from reaching Beirut.
