The Bandung District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Bandung) has responded to questions about the planned execution of Herry Wirawan, convicted of raping 13 female students in Bandung. They said they are still waiting to see whether the convict will pursue any further legal remedies.

Herry Wirawan was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Bandung District Court. However, prosecutors appealed, and the Bandung High Court accepted the appeal, resulting in Wirawan being sentenced to death.

“We are still waiting to see whether the convict submits a clemency request or not,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

Meanwhile, Ira Mambo, Herry Wirawan’s lawyer, said she has not yet received the latest ruling regarding the cassation appeal filed by her client. As such, her team cannot yet provide a response.

“I need to receive the contents of the ruling before I can comment. At the moment I have not received it and have not seen the contents of the ruling. Perhaps tomorrow I will ask the court,” she said.

Regarding whether there will be further legal action, she said the decision rests with Herry Wirawan. “The family has asked me to pursue legal remedies,” she said.
