Heroin users and dealer arrested

JAKARTA (JP): Four drug users and a dealer were arrested in a hotel and in a house in Tebet, South Jakarta, for illegally possessing and dealing heroin, police said.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday the four drug users were arrested Friday night at the Sofyan Hotel on Jl. DR. Soepomo, South Jakarta, following a report made by a person there.

"Two of the four men were university students, identified as PS, 27, and RN, 20," Aritonang said.

The other two men were identified as RM, 26, and AD, 28.

Aritonang said the four admitted to buying the heroin from a dealer in Tebet.

The alleged heroin dealer, identified as SDZ, 27, was arrested a couple of hours later at a house on Jl. Tebet Utara I, South Jakarta.

Aritonang said 25 grams of heroin were seized from the five men. A gram of heroin has a street value of around Rp 300,000 (US$122).

Police were still questioning the five men on the possibility of their involvement in heroin networks in the city, Aritonang said. (cst)
