HANOI (AFP): Men's top seed Indonesian Hermawan Susanto was
eliminated in the first round match of the Vietnam Badminton open
yesterday by unseeded Thomas Johansson of Sweden.

Susanto lost 4-15, 12-15.

His compatriot, top women's seed Susi Susanti, an Olympic gold
medalist at Barcelona in 1992, beat Margit Borg of Sweden 11-3
and 11-0.

Top four seeds in both the men's and women's doubles matches
had byes on the first day of play and no mixed doubles matches
were played.

The Vietnam tournament is the last event on the World
Badminton Grand Prix circuit.
