The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to add a new facility in the Taman Bendera Pusaka area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, in the form of a special area for pets or pet area.

Head of the Jakarta Parks and Forestry Department, Fajar Sauri, stated that the pet area is planned to be located in the Taman Langsat area, which is part of Taman Bendera Pusaka.

“But going forward, to liven up Taman Langsat, we will create a pet area. I have already communicated with Governor Pramono, asking for guidance on what to do if people bring animals,” said Fajar to Kompas.com on Friday (1/5/2026).

“There will likely be a special area, for example, specifically for cats, for other animals, so the animals can play there,” he added.

Fajar further explained that Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has in principle permitted visitors to bring pets to the park.

However, he emphasised the importance of responsibility from pet owners.

“If possible, the animals should wear nappies, or at least bring bags to pick up their waste if not using nappies. The point is, if bringing pets, please take care of them,” he said.

This plan will still be coordinated further with related departments.

“The input is good, hopefully we can have health checks. There are also free vaccinations, perhaps we will coordinate with the Dinas KPKP,” said Fajar.

This plan to add facilities is inseparable from the high number of visitors to Taman Bendera Pusaka since it was opened to the public in April 2026.

The area is the result of merging three parks, namely Taman Leuser, Taman Ayodya, and Taman Langsat, which were previously revitalised throughout 2025.

Visitor data shows a significant surge, especially on weekends. In Taman Langsat, the number of visitors even reached 3,085 people in the fourth week of April.

Meanwhile, Taman Ayodya recorded up to 287 people, and Taman Leuser reached 198 people in the same period.

Fajar hopes that with the addition of facilities like the pet area, the park can continue to develop without reducing environmental comfort and cleanliness.

“I hope this park can remain well-maintained, so that its quality does not decline. Because this is also one of the legacies from Governor Pramono,” he said.
