Here's the MacBook Neo, a Rp 10 million laptop with an iPhone chip
Apple officially released the MacBook Neo, the latest laptop positioned as the most affordable Mac in the Mac line. The device was announced on Tuesday (4 March 2026) US time and is available for pre-order with first availability starting 11 March 2026. The MacBook Neo targets students, new Mac users, and consumers who require daily computing at a lower price. Apple prices this laptop starting at 599 US dollars (approximately Rp 10 million), with education sector pricing starting at 499 US dollars (approximately Rp 8 million). ‘This laptop features an aluminium chassis and is available in four colour options: Blush, Indigo, Silver, and Citrus. The colours are applied to the keyboard area to match the chassis.’ The MacBook Neo is equipped with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2,408 x 1,506 pixels and a brightness of up to 500 nits. The panel supports up to one billion colours and includes an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare. What differentiates the MacBook Neo from other Macs is the use of the A18 Pro chip, which was previously used in the iPhone 16 Pro line. Apple claims the chip is capable of handling everyday tasks such as web browsing, document processing, light photo editing, and running AI-based applications. The MacBook Neo comes with 8 GB of RAM and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB SSD. For the 512 GB model, there is a Touch ID feature integrated into the power button for more secure device access and digital transactions. On the camera front, the MacBook Neo is equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera for video calls. Its audio system consists of two microphones with beamforming technology to capture clearer sound, and two stereo speakers supporting Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. For typing, Apple includes a Magic Keyboard and a spacious Multi-Touch trackpad that support a range of macOS navigation gestures. In terms of connectivity, the device provides two USB-C ports for power and data transfer, plus a 3.5 mm audio jack. The laptop also supports Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. Apple claims the MacBook Neo can deliver up to 16 hours of use for activities such as video playback or browsing. Its operating system also includes AI features to help users summarise text, draft writing, and boost daily productivity.
