JAKARTA - German adhesive technology firm Henkel Adhesive Technologies has showcased its latest innovations to support decarbonisation in the oil and gas sector. The technology was presented at the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition 2026 (IPA Convex 2026). Through its Invisible Decarbonisation concept, Henkel highlighted an emissions reduction approach focused on strengthening asset integrity and improving energy efficiency in existing infrastructure. OPEX Manager for Southeast Asia at Henkel Adhesive Technologies, Mickey Kasemphaibulsuk, said the strategy enables the oil and gas industry to cut emissions without major changes to main production systems. Two key technologies introduced at IPA Convex 2026 are STOPAQ and Mascoat. These technologies have an emissions profile 11 times lower per 100 square metres. Mascoat is claimed to consistently improve thermal efficiency by up to 42 per cent. This efficiency improvement directly reduces fuel consumption and operational carbon footprint. ‘Both solutions focus on preventive maintenance and asset integrity as cost-efficient decarbonisation tools capable of delivering measurable results quickly,’ Kasemphaibulsuk said in an official statement on Sunday, 24 May 2026. The initiative aims to reduce hidden emissions arising from heat loss, corrosion, and leaks. ‘By extending asset lifespans, companies automatically reduce consumption of new materials such as steel, which has a high production carbon footprint, while optimising energy use in production equipment prone to performance degradation,’ Kasemphaibulsuk said.
