Hendry Munief promotes women's role in strengthening MSMEs
Most Muslim businesswomen operate in the MSME, creative economy, and small industry sectors. They also provide various inputs regarding business potentials, challenges, and opportunities. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VII, Hendry Munief, is pushing for the strengthening of women’s roles, particularly Muslim businesswomen, in the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative economy (ekraf) to reinforce national economic growth. “Most Muslim businesswomen operate in the MSME, ekraf, and small industry sectors. They also provide various inputs regarding business potentials, challenges, and opportunities,” said Hendry in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, women’s communities have great potential because they have been the main actors in various business sectors, from household scale to creative industries. “When the government provides guidance to female business actors, this sector will be driven to develop,” he stated. Hendry emphasised the importance of policy support and guidance, including access to financing, training, and strengthening market networks to increase the capacity of women’s businesses. “Strengthening women’s communities will expand opportunities to achieve the economic targets set by the government,” he said. He assessed that synergy between the government, legislature, and women’s business communities needs to be continuously strengthened so that this potential can be optimised and the competitiveness of local products increased. These efforts are expected to drive more inclusive economic growth by making women the main actors in the development of MSMEs and the creative economy in Indonesia.
