Hendrik Irawan, the man who went viral for dancing about ‘cuan’ from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, has provided an explanation regarding his controversial antics. In the video that became the talk of the town, the owner of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) unit danced and claimed earnings of Rp6 million per day from the MBG programme. His SPPG in Pangauban Village, Barujajar Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency (KBB), has now been temporarily closed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) because some facilities do not meet standards. Hendrik explained that he had performed the dance a long time ago but only recently uploaded it to his social media account. He also did not intend to boast about the incentives received. “So, I made that video a long time ago, at that time the SPPG was also on holiday (operational break). Then someone combined that video with the talk about Rp6 million,” Hendrik said when met on Friday (27/3). He had no intention of belittling President RI Prabowo Subianto’s programme. When his video went viral with negative tendencies, he was briefly provoked into emotion and considered reporting some social media accounts to the police. “But I didn’t go through with it (police report), at that time I was provoked. I accept if netizens are now attacking me, it’s fine,” Hendrik said. Hendrik issued an open apology for his actions. He accepts the consequences of the temporary closure of his SPPG due to the uproar he caused. “I apologise to netizens, this is a lesson for me. Yes, I also accept if the SPPG is temporarily closed, while we continue to improve,” Hendrik said. Previously, the Head of the Bandung Regional Nutrition Fulfilment Service Office (PPG), Ramzi, stated that Hendrik Irawan’s viral dancing antics were seen as tarnishing the good values behind the MBG programme, which is a key initiative of President Prabowo Subianto to improve the quality of children. “That’s actually a personal matter, it doesn’t represent anyone. But it’s not appropriate for him to do that, especially inside the SPPG. We remind that in the future, SPPG in KBB should focus on handling MBG only, don’t tarnish the positive values with such actions,” Ramzi said when confirmed on Thursday (26/3). Ramzi stated that Hendrik Irawan’s SPPG in Pangauban is currently temporarily closed. Besides the fallout from the viral dancing video, it turns out there is infrastructure that was built not in accordance with standards. “Temporarily closed, out of several kitchens, only one is operational. So there is infrastructure that doesn’t meet standards yet, it will be checked again before reopening. The closure period will be according to the time needed for improvements,” Ramzi said.
