The owner of a nutrition fulfilment service unit (SPPG) in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, Hendrik Irawan, issued an apology after his dance routine at an event with President Prabowo Subianto in Sentul, Bogor last 3 June went viral again.

Through his personal Instagram account, Hendrik apologised to the entire public because his actions had caused a commotion. He maintained that he was merely cornered by several irresponsible parties.

‘Essentially, I apologise to all the people of Indonesia for the uproar that has truly been twisted by a handful of certain people,’ said Hendrik.

He also stressed that his dancing was not meant to demean any party. Hendrik said he is just an ordinary citizen who must be close to everyone.

He claimed his dance routine was actually requested by fellow participants at the event.

‘And there was a friend who said, “Bro, can I join in the dancing?”. So in the end I danced around. But it turned into an uproar,’ he said.

Hendrik also offered an apology to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang. He admitted he is proud to have Nanik as the new BGN Head.

‘So I also apologise to Mrs Nanik as the Chairperson of the BGN. I hope you are always healthy, long-lived, and blessed. I am proud to have you as the new BGN Head,’ said Hendrik.

Hendrik had previously come under the spotlight because of his dance antics, which earned him the moniker ‘cuan MBG’, at the end of last March. As a consequence, his SPPG was temporarily shut down.

At that time, he openly issued an apology and stated his willingness to bear the consequences, including the temporary closure of his SPPG.
