Advocate and Gerindra Party politician Hendarsam Marantoko does not wish to create controversy when questioned about his appointment as Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration without undergoing an open selection process.

“A bit sensitive, but I cannot answer, I will not engage in polemics on that matter, perhaps ask the public relations section later,” said Hendarsam after taking his oath of office at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections office, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/4).

Hendarsam was appointed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as Director General of Immigration on 29 December 2025 through Presidential Decree Number 187/TPA of 2025 on the Appointment of High Middle-Level Officials in the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

“I am focused on working and will not enter into that polemic. Today, right from here, I will get moving,” he said.

The oath-taking was led by Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Adrianto in the Jusuf Adiwinata Hall of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

Agus read the oath of office, which was then followed by Hendarsam. Here is the wording of his oath:

“By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal and obedient to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. And I will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of my Dharma Bakti to the nation and state. That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of the position, work as best as possible, and with full responsibility. That I will maintain integrity, not abuse authority, and avoid disgraceful actions.”

In addition to Hendarsam, the inauguration of Iwan Santoso as Staff Advisor for Public Services and Legal Reform was also held on this day.
