JAKARTA (JP): Bank Putera Multikarsa has introduced a help-the
poor savings program to support the government's efforts of
alleviating poverty in the country.
Under the three-month program, the bank has committed to
setting aside a Rp 2,000 (86.5 U.S. cents) to Rp 5,000 fund,
which is not taken from its clients, for every new savings
account or deposit opened, the bank's marketing manager,
Willijardi Halim, said yesterday.
The program is called Bulan Peduli Sosial (Social Concern
Month).
He said that the bank, formerly named Putera Sukapura Bank, is
now preparing to become a foreign exchange bank this year.
The bank's assets increased from Rp 282 billion to Rp 658
billion after Texmaco Group -- one of the largest textile
producers in Indonesia -- took it over last February. (13)
