Helicopter Deployed to Search for Five Missing Passengers of KMP Putri Yasmin

The search for five missing victims of the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry continued on Thursday (13/8/2026), with a helicopter deployed to assist the operation. The Bell 407 helicopter, owned by a private company, arrived at Lembar Port in West Lombok at around 1:34 p.m. WITA to pick up a family member of the victims and two SAR personnel before conducting an aerial sweep towards the west.

In addition to the air support, search and rescue teams are continuing surface-level operations. “Besides the direct search, we are also instructing ships passing through the Lombok Strait to report immediately if they spot any victims,” said Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi.

The KMP Putri Yasmin caught fire in the waters off Sekotong Beach, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. A total of 212 survivors were evacuated to Lembar Port, while 35 others were taken to Padangbai Port in Karangasem, Bali. Authorities have confirmed one fatality in the disaster.
