Hegseth visits CENTCOM headquarters to review Iran operation

Washington — US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is scheduled to visit CENTCOM headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, on March 5 to review progress of military operations against Iran. CENTCOM, in a statement on Wednesday, said Hegseth would meet CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper to receive an update on Operation Epic Fury. The command said the operation aims to cripple the Iranian regime’s security apparatus by prioritising targets deemed to pose an immediate threat to US troops. CENTCOM added that in the first four days of the operation, more than 2,000 strikes had been launched using more than 2,000 precision munitions from air, land and sea. On 28 February, the United States and Israel carried out strikes on a number of targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran later retaliated by launching attacks on Israeli territory as well as US military bases across various locations in the Middle East.
