Heerjee named new Indosat vice president
PT Indonesian Satellite (Indosat) Tbk., the country's second- largest telecommunications firm, has appointed Kaizad B. Heerjee as its new vice president director.
In the extraordinary shareholders meeting on Thursday, nearly all the attending shareholders approved Heerjee's appointment. Heerjee replaced Ng Eng Ho, who will move back to Singapore Technologies Telemedia (STT), the majority shareholder in Indosat.
Heerjee previously served as STT senior vice president of international operations and business development.
"With the new management, we hope to improve the company's performance and face telecommunication business competition in the coming years," Indosat president Hasnul Suhaimi (right) said.
Indosat recorded revenues of Rp 8.9 trillion (US$908.16 million) in the year's first nine months and a net profit of Rp 5.7 trillion for the same period.
As of Dec. 20, the firm's subscribers have reached 14.4 million, surpassing the targeted 14 million. Indosat plans to grow subscribers by between three and four million next year. -- The Jakarta Post/Mustaqim
