The Transport Minister, Dudy Purwagandhi, has confirmed that restrictions on vehicles with three or more axles will remain in place throughout the Eid homecoming period, which runs from 13–29 March 2026.

“We are not banning them, but we are restricting vehicles with three or more axles,” said Dudy Purwagandhi at the Transport Ministry headquarters on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the operational restrictions on heavy commercial vehicles are being implemented to ensure comfort and safety for road users during the Eid holiday exodus. “They can travel without worrying about encountering heavy vehicles on the road,” he explained.

On the first day of the Eid holiday season, Dudy Purwagandhi noted that traffic flow remained steady during the daytime monitoring period. However, he indicated that traffic congestion typically increases after the breaking of the Ramadan fast in the evening.

He stated that the government will provide updated information on Eid homecoming traffic conditions at approximately 06:00 the following day, once data has been received.

Dudy Purwagandhi did not provide specific details about which roads would experience congestion and traffic jams during the holiday period. Traffic congestion and accidents are contributing factors to road conditions during this period.

He projected that traffic congestion would occur along major roads due to the implementation of the work-from-anywhere (WFA) scheme, which takes effect from 15 March.

Most importantly, said Dudy Purwagandhi, the government and police are working to alleviate vehicle congestion on roads and at crossing points.
