Heavy Traffic on Cipali Toll Road Leads to One-Way System Implementation

Traffic engineering in the form of one-way towards Jakarta was implemented on the Cipali Toll Road section on Monday, 23 March 2026, at 17:08 WIB. Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Head of Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Department at Astra Tol Cipali, explained that this implementation is part of the local one-way traffic engineering from KM 263 (Pejagan–Pemalang) to KM 70 (Jakarta–Cikampek). Preparatory steps, including sterilisation of the Jakarta-bound lane and rest areas, were carried out since 14:00 WIB, he added. Lane cleaning or sterilisation was conducted at 14:00 WIB, with the implementation time at the discretion of the police. The traffic engineering process is situational and follows the discretion of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps. Meanwhile, for vehicles passing through the Cipali Toll Road on H+1, based on data from 00:00 to 17:00 WIB on the first day after Eid, traffic towards Jakarta was observed to increase significantly, with smooth but busy conditions. Approximately 38,000 vehicles have passed through Cikopo towards Jakarta, 101% higher than the same period yesterday. Cumulatively in both directions, the total traffic volume on the Cipali Toll Road section this afternoon was relatively the same as yesterday’s period, 2% lower than the same period the previous day. Ardam further advised all road users to always prioritise safety, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and strictly follow the instructions of on-site officers during the traffic engineering implementation period. To ensure collective safety, road users are urged not to change lanes or use U-turns during the one-way period. We also advise against stopping on the road shoulder except in emergencies, Ardam stated. Road users are advised to rest at the nearest rest area or utilise rest facilities outside the nearest toll gate if parking capacity is full, with the assurance that toll fees remain the same.
