Heavy Traffic Congestion on Janger Toll Road, Motorists Trapped for Hours near Tomang

Traffic congestion affected the Jakarta-Tangerang (Janger) toll road from the afternoon onwards, with residents complaining that the journey from Tomang to Karawaci took three hours.

According to Jasa Marga’s account on Platform X, as of 20:44 WIB on Monday, 2 March 2026, congestion was reported from Tomang to Kedoya, from Meruya to Kembangan, and from Karang Tengah to Kunciran and Karawaci heading towards Cikupa.

“20:44 WIB #Tol_Janger Tomang-Kedoya CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume. Meruya KM 06 - Kembangan KM 08 CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume. Karang Tengah KM 09 - Kunciran KM 15 CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume. Karawaci - Bitung heading towards Cikupa CONGESTED, with road maintenance work (rigid pavement reconstruction) ongoing in lane 2/central at KM 26+335,” Jasa Marga stated.

A 28-year-old resident named Intan Suci was among those affected by the congestion on the Janger toll road this evening. She reported taking three hours to travel from Tomang to Karawaci.

“The congestion was heading from Jakarta towards Tangerang, and I was trapped in the traffic from the Tomang toll entrance to the Karawaci toll exit. I entered the Tomang toll at 15:28 WIB and exited at Karawaci at 18:23 WIB,” Intan said when contacted.

Normally, this route takes her between 35 minutes to an hour if travelled during rush hour.

“Without congestion, it takes approximately 35 minutes, and during evening rush hour it takes about an hour,” she said.

Intan noted that several vehicles had broken down and were parked on the toll road’s shoulder during the prolonged congestion. Meanwhile, trucks were observed travelling freely in lanes 3 and 4, the rightmost lanes.

“There were very many (trucks), even not just in lanes 3 and 4, but also in lane 2,” she said.
