Heavy rains drench Gorontalo

GORONTALO, North Sulawesi: Hundreds of houses were inundated
here Wednesday after three days of heavy rain drenched the
Gorontalo area.

Nearly a meter of water had entered houses since late Tuesday
night as the two largest rivers in the area, Bone and Bulanggo,
also overflowed.

According to Antara the local administration has responded by
sending whatever relief -- food and medicine -- is available at
their disposal.

Coordinating posts have also been formed to watch out for
further flash floods and assist in any evacuations necessary.
